Nous accueillons à partir du 17 septembre 2019 le professeur David Schlangen (Université de Potsdam (Allemagne)) pour une série de quatre séminairessur le thème « Concepts, Composition and Conversational Coordination : Semantic Competence for Situated Interaction ».

Ces séminaires se dérouleront à l’Université Paris Diderot – Bâtiment Olympes de Gouge – 8 rue Albert Einstein – 75013 Paris en salle 533 de 16h00 à 18h00.

Séminaire 1 : Introduction, Overview – mardi 17 septembre – salle 533

  • explanandum
  • constraints on the explanation
  • sketch of the discourse model
  • data: language & vision corpora as semantically annotated language resources
  • outline of the model
  • why not end-to-end / deep learning?

Séminaire 2 : Multimodal Concepts – lundi 23 septembre – salle 533

  • different kinds of word meanings & word meaning representations: classifiers, semantic spaces,

    explicit definitions

  • acquisition of word meanings through referential interaction
  • concepts in the head, and in the language community
  • cross-over: using word-only knowledge to recognise objects (aka zero-shot learning)
  • bottom-up and top-down influences on naming

Séminaire 3 : Composition – lundi 30 septembre : salle 870

  • syntactic structure as interface
  • compositional referential semantics using classifiers: reference resolution, visual question

    answering

  • composing distributed sentence representations: situational entailment
  • generating referring expressions

Séminaire 4 : Conversational Coordination – lundi 07 octobre – salle 533

  • situated language games
  • discourse reference and direct reference
  • justification as cross-over task
